Freelance Exhibition Manager

ABOUT AVANT ARTE Avant Arte wants to make art radically more accessible for a new generation. The company began as a cult blog of contemporary artists and grew organically into the world’s largest and most engaged online art community, with more than 2 million of their followers under the age of 35. The company collaborates with iconic contemporary artists like Jenny Holzer, Cai Guo-Qiang, Claire Tabouret, Tschabalala Self and Piet Parra, making their work more accessible to younger collectors through sculpture editions, print editions and unique works on paper of exceptional quality. The company’s vision is to inspire a generation of millions of young people who love art like they love music and who collect works like they build their wardrobe. WHAT WE NEED We are looking for a passionate Amsterdam based freelance exhibition manager to coordinate and project manage an exhibition in November 2026. The main task will be cross functional coordination across production of the artworks, installation and art handling, shipping and logistics of the venue as well ensuring that on site sales requirements (ie. POS) are set up and the exhibition stays within budget. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES  Exhibition coordination & production Coordinating venue logistics, floor plans, and spatial layouts Coordinating production of artworks including sourcing materials and supporting on fabrication  Managing installation and de-installation of works  Managing shipping and logistics Project management Delivering the exhibition on time and on budget Coordinating delivery timelines of artworks and production schedule  Sales & venue coordination  Coordinating technical aspects of exhibition (AV, lighting, music)  Supervising on-site staff and volunteers Handling permits, insurance, and risk assessments Ensuring accessibility and safety standards are met POS systems, exhibition catalogue and materials  SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR: An experienced exhibitions manager with project-management and exhibition coordination skills:  Proactive and adaptable with the ability to learn quickly and meet on-the-spot requirements that can arise unexpectedly.  Eye for detail with a passion for delivering exceptionally high standards in everything you do and thrive in fast-paced environments  Accountability and ownership with the ability to stay a step ahead and anticipate any issues / concerns, address them with the team and take ownership in resolving them Highly organised  The work will be predominantly remote but we do have a warehouse located in Amsterdam-zuidoost, the Netherlands, should any in-person work be required. The freelance contract will be arranged with a total fee of €5,500 across the below hours. Any overtime will be agreed in advance at €25 / Hour (VAT included).To work as a freelancer you will need to have a KvK number.
