Ripple is growing rapidly, and we are looking for an engineering leader to help build the next generation of payment platform that enables financial institutes to instantly settle cross-border payments to build the Internet of Value. Ripple’s distributed financial technology outperforms today’s banking infrastructure by driving down costs, growing processing speeds and delivering end-to-end insight into payment fees, timing and delivery!
In the role of Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead the team responsible for crafting, delivering, and scaling the Payments Orchestration layer. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring our Payments products can move with speed and integrity while meeting the strict demands of a regulated global business.
This is a high-leverage opportunity where you will manage a critical, large, and high-performing team. You will own the strategic evolution of the Payments Orchestration vision and deliver core capabilities that ensure Ripple’s customer experiences are secure, compliant, and globally scalable.
What You’ll Do
• Develop, hire and lead a high-performing engineering team dedicated to the Payments Orchestration — defining its culture, standards, and ways of working.
• Partner with Product, Operations, Services, Compliance, and other engineering teams to deliver capabilities that power customer facing APIs from the payment processing framework.
• Build for global scale — enabling payments orchestration that meet diverse regulatory requirements and operational needs across multiple geographies.
• Define and implement a technical roadmap balancing near-term delivery with long-term architectural durability.
• Champion engineering excellence in design, testing, security, observability, and operational practices.
What We’re Looking For
• Proven track record as a Senior Engineering Manager leading high performing engineering teams delivering sophisticated, highly reliable and scalable distributed systems.
• Demonstrated success in employing Generative AI or Agentic workflows to accelerate development, automation, or product innovation
• Have managed engineering teams of 10+ engineers
• Hands-on experience building distributed systems and micro-service architecture
• Strength in guiding teams through sophisticated system migrations and legacy decoupling .
• Skilled at aligning diverse partners — across engineering, product, compliance, and legal — into a coherent technical strategy.
• Proven track record to deliver platforms with principled reliability, auditability, and compliance in a regulated environment.
• Experience building teams and capabilities that scale across diverse regions and regulatory frameworks.
• Intellectual curiosity - you love to dig into how things work and understand how to improve and scale them
• You thrive with autonomy and responsibility
• (Preferred) Good understanding of Java Spring, microservice architecture and AWS
For positions that will be based in CA, the annual salary range for this position is below. Actual salaries may vary based on numerous factors including, among other things, an individual applicant’s experience and qualifications for the position. This range does not include equity or additional compensation, such as bonuses or commissions.
CA Annual Base Salary Range
$232,000 — $290,000 USD
